I remember the big chokes in the input filter, nearly as large as the transformer (not a fair statement, since they used multiple voltages then, i.e. bipolar 12 and bipolar 5 volts, at, say 10 and 25 amps, respectively). Unfortunately it didn't take long before those "went away" in the interest of saving cost.
