I have used these on several projects to great success. For some very simple devices it is even possible to use some of the 5V power from the USB cable to power the rest of the attached hardware.
I also designed the 3.3V version of this cable into a test adapter contraption at the place I work and to date we have purchased over 150 of these from www.mouser.com for the single lot price of about $20US. They are used to interface directly to the console UART port of an embedded Linux running on an ARM core controller. Michael Karas |
