that was Intel's solution for laptop keyboard controllers which included the '42-style host interface. There were modern incarnations of the same, by Winbond, and IIRC SMSC, but all of these are already gone. I have posted here maybe a year or two ago about them, but the google search on 8052.com is so poor that I cannot find it now.
