First, I concede that Jan's method is best.

Here is my method:

1. Burn both ends of string 1, to get 30 minutes.

2. After string 1 is gone, burn both ends of string 2, and one spot in the middle. Since the string is non-linear, one section will burn out before the other. At that point, start a new fire in the middle of the unburnt string.

Repeat until the second string is consumed.
