#148361 - My Allegro Experience Responding to: ???'s previous message |
I used the new Allegro A3930 BLDC Motor Controller chip in a design. I found an "operational feature" (I consider it a bug actually) of the chip that was not described in the data sheet. I documented the issue in a long email with scope shots and detailed measurement data and sent it off to Allegro for clarification. It took them 4.5 weeks to get the thing assigned to the "correct" support person after multiple messages I left on voice mails and in email boxes of the various Allegro folks involved. Finally a short one line email comes and says "don't use the chip in that mode". This was strange to me since the data sheet distinctly goes on for several paragraphs about the said benefits of the mode I was now not to use. I wanted a better answer to the question than that and wanted to find out when I could expect a corrected or expanded data sheet. So I called the tech support guy directly and the response was: - We already answered your question - We don't have time to talk to you about your problem - The company does not have the resources to correct the data sheet - And I should consider is an outstanding privilege that Allegro even makes their parts available to small fry buyers like me.
I told the dude I was shocked that he had so little respect for the company he worked for then yet for the customer that that was calling him. Nix Allegro for all future designs. Michael Karas |
