I have two of these things. I got the first one at the local computer superstore for a hundred bucks. I got the second one at the local used books/electronics/etc store for $40. I'm on my second. I popped the pullup resistor off the first one to "de-underclock" it to 266Mhz (chip design spec), and started having trouble with larger data transfer operations over ethernet. There's some kind of timing dependancy there that caught me. It seems to work fine for everyone else. So rather than solder the resistor back on, I bought another one on clearance. The first will probably get the resistor re-installed at some point and when I feel like I have some chance of success, get "fattened". It really needs more than 32mb to be useful. Mine runs Unslung. I mostly use it as Linksys intended with a few additional services. I find running my own hidden DNS server useful. My ISP's reverse DNS query time is simply unacceptable. It also hosts dhcpd, which is setup to flip static IP's for various machines, cvs (soon svn), etc... I looked at running Debian, but at the time there was some kind of endian issue, and I wasn't interested in fiddling with it that much. I just wanted a 24x7x365 *nix box to provide some simple services using less than 10 watts. 9 months of the year, every watt added to my den has to be forceably removed by the A/C, so standard power hungry PC's are not welcome.
