My opinion is that you will have a very small chance of succes by making a "me too" product.
The reason is that those that already make what you my want to "me too" have developed a wealth of "know-how" and the time it takes to develop same will 'kill' you. Now, it IS possible that there may be a product where a "me too" product have a chance, just do not go by the assumption that a schematic and a BOM is enough to 'prove' thst success will come. Erik PS know-how does NOT mean knowing how to design a thingy. "Know-how" (with the dash) refer to knowledge as e.g. "if you route the trace from plop to plip through a via the EMI will exceed the norm". I, personally think that the most blatant example of the value of know-how is shown in switching power supplies. an industrial product will have far gerater efficieny, far lower EMI, run cooler, be safer in case of malfunction than anything anyone can design without a wealth of know-how. |
