All of the OPs other suggestions also exist already:

1) PLC for industrial application.
2) Control board for any machine.
3) SMPS.
4) Control unit for genset.


He just needs to do the business basics to decide whether the market can support another "me too" product, and/or whether he can add some "killer feature" to steal market share...
