#132298 - Stopped working?
Responding to: ???'s previous message
I own 99SE, and for some reason it has stopped working on my office computer.
I believe that you have been through this before just I can't find it in search box. How exactly? It is awkward to me that computer stops working just like that... There is usually a reason for doing so. What was the line of events that lead to 'stop working' condition?
Then I had no choice but to upgrade because I was forced to switch over to Windows 95.
Hm... I've never stopped using DOS programs when switched to Win-95. Occasionally there were some problems, but eventually I've managed to run everything. As a matter of fact they have got more or less obsolete, not inaccessible, to be honest I still use P1/Win-95 with ISA scanner mentioned, and from time to time I do run DOS version of Nectaris... And since I do regularly backups I've became unintended collector of antique programs over the years, as I recall I've started some early CAD version that comes in floppy-package from Win-95 environment with no probs.
My point is simply this. If you haven't already spent the money for DXP, then absolutely put a lot of thought into which package you buy.
Being in software for a while, I actually don't intend to spend money at all for a 'hobby' part of my passion. I'm only interested to know which package is most efficient for PWB drawing. If I ever struck commercial, then it is not quite my problem. To make RDBMS comparison: I usually do MSSQL, but if customer can't afford it, then it's MySQL, MSDE, Express or some open source/free solution with strings clearly attached... My point here is that I haven't used MySQL to the best extent of its abilities just because I could get if for free, no I've became proficient in MSSQL (and partially Oracle but that is completely different story) and started from there. In my opinion, it is far easier to 'downgrade' than to 'upgrade' performance when requested.
And I still say the best thing you can do to make that choice your best is to learn all you can, and become as proficient as you can, with what you have (access to) now.
Agreed, but the term 'access' is rather large nowadays, when world is a global village...

Thanks for your time, and advice,

Best luck,
CN
