So, nobody knows whether 1 out of ever Billion watts or 999,999,999 out of every billion watts produced is delivered to the end-user?

I've never seen any sort of approximation, only having observed that energy producers really don't care, so long as they get paid for what they deliver.

It interests me not only from the standpoint of efficiency, but also in the context of global warming. After all, each and every wire is a heating element.
