Just noticed, that this sentence could be confusing. By "open" I mean "whenever the diode opens the path to ground". The correct meaning is "whenever the diode turns-on", of course. So it should read:

"Yes, because you short-circuit the electromagnetic fields at this point, whenever the diode turns-on!"
