It would be possible for "someone" to sue and win, if a company gave another person a positive reference and the "someone" was not given any reference. I do not know about the UK, but here in the US it is customary to confirm from/to and stop there. The sad thing about no references given is that someone can interview as very bright and be a glowing candidate and then be absolutely incapable of getting any work done. Another can be somewhat less knowledgeable and be exteremely productive, This can only be found from references, but, alas, none are given any more. Erik |
