#128567 - Employing someone who might be slightly dodgy |
Hi Guys,
Hoping to get some advice. I interviewed a guy last week for our role as a embedded systems/leaning towards asic/FPGA guy and this guy came along and he seemed very nice and bright and knew what he was talking about and ticked all the right boxes, so I sort of said to the MD we should offer him the job and the MD sent a standard letter saying we want to offer you the job subject to satisfactory references and so on. This week the references he gave us are not replying to our emails, I am really in a difficult situation, i dont want to turn around to the guy and say we are not employing you and I know that many companies dont take or give out references,I really am wondering what other peoples reaction might be in the same situation.I wish that companies were consistant where references were concerned because I know that they have employed other people without even asking for references.Trouble is i dont want to piss the MD off as it was him who said 'subject to satisfactory references' |
