#127607 - Sadly, there's ample reason to agree ...
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Yes, this COULD be managed on an 805x, I think, at least for the first two stages that I proposed (not that my proposed method is, in any way, superior). The principal concept, however, is that the use of a standard open-source OS on a PC allows for even less of the senseless overpricing of the hardware. After all, they get a few million for developing the software/firmware, and then they overcharge by 10,000x the price of the actual hardware that they deliver, and they deliver plenty of it.

I'm thinking that a box can conceal that there are really three PC's involved, since they can, in reality, be colocated. The OS can be something like UBUNTU, or some other Linux distribution, which supports intefaces to all the associated hardware, e.g. keyboard, printer, display, scanner, and, network. Only the last-stage would have to be networked, since it sends the data to the central election-commission data collection center. Each stage has a physical artifact of each vote, except for the 3rd stage, and even it can be compared with stage 2 and stage 4 (the central database) to ensure it is consistent. My emphasis on the use of PC hardware is that it is cheap and easy. Because it's ubiquitous, it's easy to find people who understand its operation, hence, are qualified to audit and verify.
