There was a time when people did good work just becuase that was what was expected of them. They did it becuase it gave them validation and satisfied them.
Today, however, it seems that nobody cares what sorts of rubbish they turn out, so long as they get recognition and remuneration for it. I've never been much of one for polishing my ego. That doesn't mean I don't appreciate a pat on the head when I've done well, nor does it suggest I don't mind working for nothing. I'm still for firing the guys who take a day off while they're still behind on their work, even if it is Christmas, and I don't appreciate short-cuts unless they save both time and money. RE |
