#127015 - Why? Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Hi Richard,
It needs to be something "useful" Why? I think this sort of thing would be an excellent contest project. On the one hand it's simple enough that most everyone could build one. Otherwise it would just be a contest between Erik, Steve, Kai and Craig (and of course you, whoever you happen to be that is reading this). On the other hand, it's complex enough that no one is going to whip one out during their afternoon coffee break. Thus, it really will be a contest in which a broad cross section of the 8052.com croud (et al) can participate. As for "usefulness," I would point out that many commercially viable, even lucrative, products have no "useful" qualities beyond asthetics, curiosity and/or artistic merit. What "use" is a plasma globe, or one of those mobile sculptures of an airplane spinning around on a nail point. No Richard, I respectfully disagree. It doesn't need to be useful to be either a good contest project or a commercially viable product. Of course, Craig might think about offering a speciat prize to whoever implements the most useful innovation, improvment and/or application in theirs. |
