#116065 - what about device models?
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Does it allow you to model REAL devices? What I've seen, so far, aside from the >>$10kUS pricetag, is that it doesn't provide any models for current generation devices. It allows modeling of ideal components, but doesn't handle any sort of real-world components. That sort of thing is fine if you're investigating a system, the operating components of which are new to you and whose characteristics are a mystery. However, if you understand how the components function and how they interact, ideal simulation is of little use unless you need a confidence building measure.

If the software models an ideal mixer and an ideal oscillator, and "ideal" (e.g. Gaussian) noise, you still don't end up with anything that reflects reality. If you want useable information you have to have "real" models and a compatible simulator. I'm surprised you don't have one of the many SPICE versions at your disposal. Component manufacturers go to considerable lengths to provide models by means of which you can simulate circuits under nearly any set of conditions you can specify, with randomized variations (Monte-Carlo) that help find unanticipated sensitivities to component variation or noise, or other potentially variable conditions.

SPICE isn't perfect either, but it's pretty decent for modeling circuitry, particularly if you have good mfg-provided models.
