You get companies which I assume start off full of good intentions to change the world, or at least try not to actualy do harm and then the company gets a reputation and then greed takes over and it all goes downhill from there. That's because the company, regardless of how it started out, eventually gets taken over by business dweebs who are, basically, idiots. The company who wanted me does have a good reputation and I am sure that they pay lots, but that doesnt make up for the fact that you are in the end working for some megalomaniac who nobody had the balls to say 'no' to. See above reference to idiots. I'm glad you realize that the high pay doesn't compensate for having to work for morons. It's why I now work in academia. The pay sucks, but you get to work with a better class of people, and the people you work for are likely to be smarter than you. So, the general plan should be: Work in industry 'til you've got enough money to have a good home and whatever niceties you desire, then tell the subhumans in business to pound sand, and then go do what you enjoy. It worked for me ;-) |
