WHO GIVES A HOOT ABOUT "but what abt the thing that not all my machines in the same environment have the same static problem some run fine for years without any occurence of static problem" Is your design based on luck? That some machines work is TOTALLY IRRELEVANT, I have seen a case where the unchecked coating of a PCB made the difference, does that mean that the coating should be checked? ABSOLUTELY NOT, it means that the circuit should be redesigned so that the coating did not matter.. A safe (as in reliable) product is DESIGNED That some work, some don't, just show the total irrelevance of TESTING. Protect the inputs, apply ALL you find in the FAQ "How can I resolve noise problems?", DO NOT "try this, try that" the only way that can be "checked" is by "testing which is WORTHLESS! You are trying to find an easy way out there is NONE. Redesign with static on the forefront of your mind and then when you have DESIGNED a safe circuit install it and you can forget about "testing" for ESD. If you need to test, your design is faulty. That, of course, does not mean that you should not test, just that realying on "testing" is totally irresponsible. Erik |
