Funny... as in interesting "funny". We all work with the same "stuff" but what I may consider a "time saver" another considers it a "waste of time".
I once worked with an engineer who developed some very sophisticated embedded systems and until recently (he's passed on), he still used only an analog Ohm meter and an old Tektronics logic analyzer. All his code was written in assembly and he only used a DOS '286 PC. He never used the internet for research and only relied on hard copy data books from the manufacture(s). He considered surfing the net for data books and answers a big waste of time. He often said C compiliers and IDE's are for those engineers that were unsure of themselves and lacked the true skills and talent to develop good/reliable embedded systems. Who was I to argue? His stuff always worked and still does! Great feedback guys, and thank you. I am always interested in what tools others are using and how they may benefit from it. And remember... "It doesn't have to be difficult to be embedded! |
