Eric,

You are correct and I think this was the confusion on my part, the SiLabs IDE is NOT a simulator, thus will not be very helpful to me.

I will be able to do both, simulator and debug within the Keil IDE. Thus it will be more useful to me.

Thanks for the great dialog and feedback while I got my head around all of this!
