While it's true that most MCU app's don't require high data rates, acquisition is sometimes in bursts and it's easier to shuffle the data off via a FIFO and let the host PC do the buffering if it's necessary, rather than including a buffer memory on the MCU side. You're right, of course, in that most MCU tasks operate a much lower rates, but one shouldn't just rule out higher rates with a hand-wave, so long as the USB side can deal with it. RE |
