Yes, I'm kind of wondering just how high the source impedance of a piezo signal would be. That was the main reason why I posted my original question: to see if someone had tried sampling/measuring the peak output of one of these before. The interfacing to a 8051 (once converted to digital) is pretty straightforward and is not my concern right now.
