The reason they put the 'H' in the product name was that it's a hybrid. That means there are multiple components on a single substrate, in this case. You can use a few resistors and a couple of PNP transistors to make your own high-power regulator, and it will do just what the 'H05 will do. Motorola published several app-notes for pass-transistor-based high-power regulator circuits using three-terminal regulators.
