Yes: if you look at catalogues, you will see that there are lots of 78x05 devices - where the 'x' indicates different current capabilities; eg,
LM78L05 - 100mA; http://www.national.com/pf/LM/LM78L05.html LM78M05 - 500mA; http://www.national.com/pf/LM/LM78M05.html Searching for 78H05 not! What strange! Fake IC? Yes, it conceivable that you have a fake IC (especially as you've got it from a questionable source) - but it's far more likely that it's just a part that's no longer made by National Semiconductor |
