The UART logic and state machine inside the MCU is not really very complex. You should be able to reset the receive section of the UART by setting the REN bit to a low a "0". The control register logic in the receive section should respond to the disable in an asynchronous manner but without the actual circuit design details it is not possible to be 100% sure. For this reason it may be advisable to leave the REN at "0" for timer period equal to 2 to 4 cycles of the receive baud rate clock. Of course 2 to 4 cycles is just a guess on my part and more or less cycles may be needed. Michael Karas |
