#175772 - Thanks David Prentice

Thanks David, for your post, reply and advice about talking to supplier.
Please refer to my other post in this forum : http://www.8052.com/forum/read/175771.

Over here for Segment B, there is a whole market about 250+ shops that sell components; and most of the time, they do not know who is the manufacturer. If I go to a shop and ask for P89C51RD2HBP (old phased out IC), then he will tell me to wait for half an hour; he will send his person to get it from the relevant shop who keeps it; adds his price margin, and sells it to me. But never reveals the person who keeps it. If I am lucky, I might find this person.

Similarly, there are some traders, who import a whole container of components from "God knows where"...mostly China, Taiwan, ... and then resells it to local whole-sale supplier. And these suppliers sell it to 250+ retail shops that are in a place called GrantRoad.

Of course, there are genuine suppliers like Arrow, RS Components, DIGI-Key, Farnell, etc. who sell genuine parts, and they never fail, but for products of Segment B they cannot compete with the prices from these suppliers, so they have to rely on these retailers.

So no question of black-listing a supplier. So as Arun Kumar has said, I have to use a CQ series crystal.

It happens for any electronic component. Now it is 12MHz crystal. Sometime back, a whole lot of ICL7107 was defective, and people using them were running like hell to get a genuine one.

And about the difference in frequency of what is printed and what I get, I think this has relevance to a this ... http://www.8052.com/forum/read/175440
