AT89C51RD2/ED2 and family are self-programmable (IAP-able). It means, that you can write an application, which is able to read an external memory - say a cheap serial EEPROM - and program part of its own FLASH.
The target MCU has to be pre-programmed with this application, though. If you want to program stock new MCUs, you'll need a second MCU or a PC or something similar. JW |
