EVERYone needs to know that the WHEEL DOESN'T LOCK UNTIL THE KEY IS REMOVED. Jon Ledbetter said:
Every car/truck I've had with a locking column, has a position where the key can be removed and once in that position the wheel will lock whether the key is in or out. Like Steve (and Richard, if I've understood him correctly), mine have never actually locked the steering until the key has been removed - you can hear the "clunk" as you take the key out. In fact, when I take the key out, I can see that the barrel of the lock pops out a bit - I presume this is what actually engages the steering lock? |
