Your demo sample has the same problem in the code part as was in the OP's initial code. You are generating a clock pulse before reading the first QH data bit. As suggested to the OP on this forum thread you should read the QH input @ P1.3 BEFORE generating each clock pulse.

So...no this demo is not particularly helpful till this problem is fixed.
