#169262 - a comment, not a 'bashing' Responding to: ???'s previous message |
We do, quite frequently see posts from people that beleieve that the '51 is "just another processor" ("is there a C++ compiler", "what RTOS do I use", "I can't find file I/O", ....)
I would STRONGLY recommend to the OP and such posters that they do not just jump into programming the '51, if they "jump into it" they will end up with a nightmare. I recall one occasion where I was asked to help a couple of such implementing banking since they were running out of space in 64k and, after seeing their 'efforts' threw the whole thing out and ended up with ~4k of code doing the job. SO, if you are new to the '51 do two things before you do anything else a) read "the bible" more than once b) regardless of which compiler you end up using work through (I did not say 'read') the Keil "getting started guide" Erik PS it is bloody awful that one has to title like I did to avoid a thread getting off track with "poor little beginners" posts. |
