And, in fact, Ganssle's arguments are NOT against assembler. Asm does not give you the false feeling of power. Asm simply does not allow you to write dangerous, ambiguous expressions, relying on obscure properties of the language. Where there are dark corners in C, asm will slap you on face in a straightforward and crystal clear way. There are absolutely no portability problems with asm - you simply have to rewrite everything, hence can't fall over some false assumptions.

So, as far as language crankiness is concerned, asm is far better than C. And I believe Ganssle would agree with me.
