The point is that Windows users have long been well aware that the Bad Guys are out to get you and, therefore, that protective measures are necessary.

Also, most *NIX systems are run by technically competent administrators and are, because of that, well-defended against attacks.

Once *NIX starts getting into the "mainstream" of non-technical users (ie, typical Windows users), I guess that will also change...
