To protect a powerinput (9VDC, max 1A) against overvoltage I want to use a thyristorbased crowbar.
good and bad. It works but is (in electronic terms) awfully slow I have been reading about polyfuses and simular devices that they loose trip point accuracy when they have tripped a few times. I have had no problems with polyfuses, is that becuse I have been lucky and the change was less than what I could not handle, I do not know. For the typical fuse you do not need any extreme "trip point accuracy" if you fuse a 500mA circuit with a 1A fuse, it can change 50% without hurting you. Erik |
