#177383 - Maybe FRAM would solve that problem
Responding to: ???'s previous message
I'm currently fiddling with SRAM-compatible FRAM devices that allow writes as fast as reads. With these, and other schemes for overlapping XRAM and program memory, it's quite reasonable to use a single memory device for all external memory.

If you register P2 contents at the rising edge of ALE, you should have a copy of the port contents. That, then, can serve as the input to an adder, if you so choose, to the address bus, or, alternatively, simply use those lines as upper addresses. P2 changes during ALE, of course, during external memory address setup.
