#175788 - Argh!! stupid tools
Ive been using my home P.C for development work recently and as I refuse to pay for development tools for home use I have been fighting with terrible terrible crap tp produce schematics and PCB layouts and the general standards of usability of stuff which is supposed to be demo versions of commercial tools is really low.
I use winAVR tool sets and libc for my ATMEGA coding, I even use decades old logic compilers for Altera 3000 series CPLDs and that works fine but when it comes to schematic capture and layout its a nightmare, Eagle I still don't understand how you make new symbols in the library, it may not be possible I am really not sure, expressPCB still gives me sleepless nights, and this pile of crap http://www.bluepc.com/bluehdl.html#intro is supposed to be a logic simulator but it does not even support the most commonly used libraries so you are forced to use arcaic coding styles to get your code to simulate.
Come the revolution software developers will be first against the wall.
Especailly people who expect you to download 350 Megs of '1's and '0's so you can run some version of modelsim for free, Ive got my own '1's and '0's I shall use them in future.
