Batteries are a chemical reaction, the have limits.
The Internal Impedance is also an issue.
But for discharges above C rate Ni-Cad is Good. Ni-Mh is next. A123 has Li-Ion the are made for Power Tools.
In fact you most likely want those type of cells.
The Trouble with Ni-Cad is they are starting to go away, but are still available now.
