Yes - UK is very similar. We also have other wierdness; eg, if you buy a ticket from A to B via C it can sometimes cost more - sometimne a lot more - than buying a ticket from A to C and a ticket from C to B. You don't even need to get off the train at C. In fact, you can even travel on a train that goes through C without stopping! |
