Hector, the UK Taxman, will allow you to claim 40p per mile if you drive your own car.
Hector makes Scrooge look like a paragon of munificence - so, if he thinks 40p/mile is a "reasonable" estimate of the true running costs of a car, it's unlikely to be any less! (and the 40p hasn't changed in years - despite the recent significant rises in fuel costs). Also, a 3-hour drive is 3 hours wasted; on a train, you can get some work done. Or some sleep... |
