Those "dangerous things" included in Asian, among others, manufacturers' app-notes are based on the notion that people don't try what they don't understand. In the U.S. and Britain, people get ahead by "trying things." It's a significant cultural bias. In some parts of the world, people don't do things that they don't believe they should do. In others, people do what they don't believe they shouldn't.
Now that these cultural biases are becoming more apparent on the world stage, I believe some manufacturers will become more conservative in what they publish, particularly as they have to defend against lawsuits. Nothing will prevent Darwin from being right, however. The real dummies will still electrocute themselves. It's a good thing we have more of them than we really need. RE |
