Well, I clicked and downloaded a scanned pdf of 8021. From it it follows, that it is indeed just a stripped down version of 8048 - less pins, less memories - with a very few other minor differences. External memories - both RAM and code - are also removed, as are the respective instructions, so ALE here serves only as a clock output (Xtal/30, contrary to 8048's Xtal/15). PROG is not a programming pin, rather, it is a strobe to connect to the expander chip, 8243. JW |
