That seems to be exactly the case. Erik suggested looking for spare parts, and suggested Hitachi. They put out a 25 volt 3 amp-hour battery that recharges in 1 hour, which I believe will be sufficient for continuous operation (provided a receptical is nearby). Moreover, the basic design is a 2-rail attachment system with the moving part of the latch built into the battery. That means I should be able to machine a mounting plate easily enough, needing only to buy a set of contacts, a charger and a couple of batteries. I still wish someone out there offered a generic quick-change battery system. It just seems like the sort of thing that someone would do. Joe |
