#169384 - Sonitrol
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Hi Richard,

Once upon a time I worked for a security company named Sonitrol of Calcasieu, providing an alarm system that used microphones monitored by live operators to detect burglaries.

In the pre-digital days of analog control panels, the main boards were attached via an edge connector. All of us carried pencils for just that purpose, to clean the edge contacts on the board. In that case, long before the contact became intermitant, oxidation would manifest as a high pitched squeal in the audio signal.
