Yes, a project of any complexity needs proper management, and software like MS Project is a good tool. If you don't want spend that much money, there are alternatives like PlanBee.
A tool is only a tool though, and the main secret of successful project management is graft. You need to communicate with the team regularly to make sure that risks are being addressed and milestones are being met. |
