"Low" is relative: a "low-cost" controller for a large, high-power industrial motor will (almost) always be more expensive than a "low-cost" controller for a small, domestic motor.

You have to take the "low" in the appropriate context.

So, when Freescale say "low cost" they mean (or want you to beleive) that it is "low" relative to other comparable offerings on the market

They are certainly not saying that it is "low" relative to the (possibly unrealistic) budget of some unknown engineer in Pakistan!!
