because you want to find the fastest possible line speed.

But that's not necessarily the case with a microcontroller - the fastest speed might be "uncomfortable" for the microcontroller (or the application within the microcontroller).

Hence I said:
(conversely if you start at 115k2, you might not want to get stuck there, either)

Yes, that's true - not sure if it's significant, but it's true!
