Do you mean cost, stability, power, frequency range, distortion or something else? Oliver ,Actually you might be knowing amplitude stability and THD are issues with op amp based designes . It would be ok if one gets .5% to 1% Distortion. Cost has always been a criterion with most among us the less the better. You know 8038 was dirt cheap with good performance .
