I redid the simulation with the load at 51 ohms and 1K ohm. You can see it in the attached PDF file. N-FET Common Source Loads @51 and @1K The FET has a threshold!! Sure it varies from device to device and with load current. But the fact of the matter exists that N-FETs used as high side switches require gate drive above the supply voltage. Same situation exists for using N-FETs in the tops of H-Bridges and the half bridges used to drive BLDC motor windings. Michael Karas |
