Besides the compiler, what other open source stuff is availble to help you make controls and menus and tooltips and status bars and so on without reinventing the wheel for each and every program? Can you give a link to such things?


There's QT from TrollTech, which, while not open source, is free for open source programs, and very cheap for small businesses. It has the advantage that you can work in Windows or KDE natively.

There's also Eclipse of course - IBM released that to open source, and again its platform independent.
