#142581 - the \"cheap\" guy Responding to: ???'s previous message |

Maybe once you've done your research you might come to the conclusion that it is easier to pay someone with the right equipment to do the right job. Anyway, with a little research you'll better understand the process. As with many other things perpetrated here (and on similar fora), e.g. PCB design, prototype manufacturing and similar, these can and shall be offsourced, but there are many reasons why to attempt a crude "homemade" solution from time to time - depending on circumstances of course. Me, I pay someone to do it!!! I'm lucky that there is a local lab that has the right gear but isn't certified or traceable that charges me $200 for a pre-compliance for a handful of tests before i spend $8000+ for the *real* tests. The cheap guy turns out to be more knowlegable and helpful than the expensive lab that employs fresh graduate engineers that know very little. In fact, you get what you pay for. The expensive lab people - and it's not only the "fresh graduated" variety - know how to do all the paperwork you and they need (and paper turns out to be one of the cheapest and at the same time one of the most expensive things on this planet...). The "cheap" guy knows how to get you through the expensive guys... :-) This is supposedly the proper course of the things. Nevertheless, the "cheap guy" might be not available readily, or not helpful enough. And, sometimes the "expensive guys" provide a "cheap" pre-testing, too. JW |
